Lacrosse and Community: Building Stronger Neighborhoods

Lacrosse is more than just a game. It’s often a bridge that connects kids and families, fosters friendships, and strengthens communities. We see it every season – lacrosse brings players, families, and neighbors together in a way that goes beyond the field.

Lacrosse programs often emphasize mentorship, with older players and coaches serving as role models for younger athletes. Here at Big Walnut Lacrosse, we call it the "pass it down model."

This dynamic builds relationships that inspire growth, accountability, and leadership both on and off the field. Young players not only learn the fundamentals of the game but also the values of teamwork, respect, and responsibility, and older players are often just as inspired by their younger counterparts.

One of the most impactful aspects of lacrosse is its inclusivity. Many programs, including Big Walnut Lacrosse, work hard to ensure that all kids, regardless of their background, have the opportunity to play. By providing scholarships, hosting free and/or low-cost clinics, and fostering a welcoming environment, lacrosse becomes a sport where everyone can feel at home.

Lacrosse programs often partner with local businesses, schools, and organizations, boosting community engagement and economic growth. We are thankful for our close connection to the middle and high school programs and strong relationship with our school system that allows us to rent the turf fields, gain access to the school gyms in the early spring season, and much more. These collaborations create a ripple effect, benefiting not just players but the entire neighborhood.

At Big Walnut Lacrosse, we’re proud to be part of a community that celebrates the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and shared success. When you join our program, you’re not just joining a team — you’re joining the Big Walnut Lacrosse family.

Register today for our spring season and be a part of something bigger. Let's grow the game. Let's let the kids play.
